It's all about waiting...for the bus, for the plane, for your next cup of coffee...

Mary Beth and I are waiting to close on our new home here in Lafayette. It reminded me of the one song that is all about waiting...from that little ol' band from Texas...ZZ Top:

Friday...Friday...Fryday...Furreyeday

I hate Fridays. I have always liked Wednesdays, Thursday and Saturdays but never Fridays. I am always stuck in a chair typing on my computer looking at my watch wondering when Friday afternoon would end. It is the dread, the anxiety of the wait...it's just Friday and it sucks.

Crocs - Do you own some? I do and love them to death. They remind me of my EarthShoes from the mid 1970's. I wore those down to rubber nubs. But my Crocs are good to go anywhere. Who would have thought a garden clog would become a fashion statement. I believe in wearing the brightest colors I can get so here are mine:

Well that is all I have to say for this F-R-I-D-A-Y!

Laissez les bon temps rouler, cher!

We be pimpin'!

Last night the wind blew in the wrong direction but that did not stop the Bead Whore and her new friend from Monroe. These two gals went bonkers for everything that was thrown their way.

Here are they are in all their splendor:

Mardi Gras is a fun time of the winter season. It is preparation for the Lenten season, when we Christians remember what life is all about - sacrifice to the good will of others. Something Christ did for all of us.

Bead Whore...Or How My Wife Reacts To Mardi Gras Parades!

A lot has transpired since my last entry. I moved the wife and dogs down from Tennessee only to take the dogs back to Tennessee two weeks later. A 750 square foot apartment, two adults and three bird dogs is not a healthy situation. The lab mix, Mickie, barked incessantly. That caused the Brittany, Kaydee, to join the chorus; which lead to complaints from the condominium association and to my landlord. We tried doggie daycare but at $38 a day it was driving us in the fast lane to brokeville. I took them home to Franklin, Tennessee last weekend. We will retrieve them in late March when we move into our new house.

Speaking of new experiences, Mary Beth is the official southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras bead whore. Between the Krewe of Rio parade on February 10th and last night, she now has over 200 strands of beads or throws as they are know as here in Louisiana. Tonight we hit the streets again in search of more cheap trinkets.

We will probably wind up with fifty pounds of beads by the time the last parade passes next Tuesday. I can say this much our nieces in San Antonio will thoroughly enjoy playing dress up.

Well, that is all!

Lache pas la patate!

Oh, yeah - Mardi Gras Mambo, Y'all!

December 17, 2006

I am a sucker for dogs. A co-worker's daughter just moved into a new home and her landlord asked her to get rid of her pet of four years. I volunteered to take him in. I am now the owner of a Pug named Bruce.

Here he is:

He is good natured little fellow and I hope he gets along with my other canine friends.

We are looking for a home to purchase here in Lafayette. Seems a lot of older homes (built in the 1960's and 1970's) have secondary structures in the backyard. The one we are most impressed with and may try to purchase has a nice 400 square foot building that will make a fine game room or party room. I hope to muster the finances together to make an offer pretty soon.

Christmas week is upon us. I am looking forward to going to Tennessee to see my wife and children.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all!

Day One

Well my venture into the bloggers' world! As I post I hope you will enjoy my trials and tribulations of living La Vie Dansante here in heart of Acadiana - Lafayette, Louisiana.

A little about me: I am closing out my fifth decade on this planet. I relocated to south Louisiana earlier this year after five and half years in middle Tennessee and living the previous twenty years in Texas - both Houston and Dallas. I am married to my best friend, Mary Beth. We have two very wonderful children, Andy and Katie. Both are attending college. Andy is an aspiring pre-med student at Ole Miss. He will be graduating this coming spring and hopes to either attend medical school or take a year to study abroad compliments of the William J. Fulbright Scholarship Committee. Katie will be graduating from Columbia State this December and wants to continue her studies at a local college in the Nashville area as an education major.

I love dogs as evidenced by my tribe of mutts - Sadie, an eleven year old Springer Spaniel mix; Kaydee, a seven year old Brittany, and Mickie, Sadie's puppy who was fathered by a very large Labrador Retriever. My babies as I like to call them.

Here are my babies:
